The Diner Finder is the Internet's best source of real diner information.
This morning we received an email from Keith Walker, the man who purchased and shipped Tommy's Diner from Rhode Island to Utah. Keith wanted to notify us that after six months of waiting, he has finally received his "stainless steel parts" from Daniel Zilka, more than six months after he first demanded their return. Keith now considers this matter more or less closed, but he also sent us this photo of the cashier's booth that Zilka removed from the diner and kept for his collection.
Can someone please explain to us why someone supposedly charged with the mission of preserving diners engages in such a practice? We have to think that if you were in fact driven to aid in preserving diners, you would want to keep the diners as intact as possible.
We would welcome any response from Mr. Zilka, but so far he has not responded to our emails.
