You may have never met Joella Nicastro, but if you've visited enough diners and talked to enough of their owners, you know her. She's that operator seasoned by years of slugging it out in the restaurant industry trenches. She's tough, old-school, but she possesses a heart of gold and still greets every customer with a broad smile and a hearty laugh. She's seen it all, does not suffer fools gladly, and runs a classic roadside attraction that with every visit reminds us why we love these places. Unfortunately, Joella now also finds herself in much the same situation as too many of her colleagues. Despite the fact that her little diner has threaded itself endearingly into her local community, she will likely become yet another victim of what some call progress. Her diner, the [b]Dover Diner[/b] in Toms River, New Jersey sits on land she does not own. The guy that owns the land wants her and her diner cleared from the sight by March 1, and Joella finds herself between the proverbial rock and hard place. The Dover first came to what was then known as Dover Township in 1951.
