Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania -- The Sunrise Diner left for Cleveland, Ohio today, according to its now-former owner Noel Behan. Thanks to the efforts of DinerForSale.com, the diner landed in the possession of Steve Harwin of Diversified Diners, who will restore the unit for eventual resale.
Noel put the diner up for sale last year in order to make way for the expansion of his adjacent tavern, initially offering it for over $40,000, despite the fact that it cost him $2,000 per day just to keep in on the site.
Noel entertained offers from several parties to move the structure, but no one seemed to have the resources to remove the structure. Even Dan's Diner Salvage reportedly offered $12,000 for the classic O'Mahony that never materialized and simply delayed Noel's plans to expand his tavern.
