OAKLEY, UT -- Utah's first Jersey-built diner will celebrate its grand opening on Saturday, July 26. Keith Walker, the Road Island Diner's new owner and the man responsible for its restoration wrote Roadside:
The 3rd generation of the Boredemus family from R.I. are flying to Utah for the festivities. They are in their 50's and have never been West of the Mississippi. The Family had run the diner in Middletown R.I. since 1953. We opened the restored diner a few weeks ago and served 5500 meals in 10 days! The 60-80 year old crowd drive 50 miles into the mountains to reminiscent about the old days when they were young. Many never have seen a true diner but remember drugstore soda fountains and Seeburg wallboxes.
